Merbau is a wood from SouthEast Asia. It comes in a range of shades of browns and appears to have tiny gold flecks throughout it. It is said to be one of the most environmentally stable woods (it resists the expansion and contraction of the seasons very well). It is also very hard, about 1.5 times as hard as standard red oak.
